Don Peterson says the biggest challenge of his job is the
"wild card factor. On any given day, you must be
prepared to meet the unexpected." The competitive
advantage of SNK is its nimbleness in dealing with these
unexpected factors. "In contrast to a large corporate
hierarchy with multiple layers," explains Peterson, "we
are smaller and nimbler. At our best, we entrust,
empower and encourage initiative from our team
members."

Peterson views his fundamental responsibility as
identifying real estate opportunities that bring value to the
company and its investors. He believes SNK's size and
agility makes the company able to react faster and take
advantage of new conditions in the market as they arise.
He cites his team's creative ability to think out of the box
as one of the company's greatest assets. But he doesn't
lose sight of his own guiding principle: "Never
compromise your integrity."

Peterson looks forward to future growth in development,
citing the continuing need for additional housing in most
western markets as the fundamental that will drive
development. He plans to keep a steady stream of
product in SNK's pipeline, and he anticipates the
company's emergence into new markets as opportunities
can be identified.
